Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard today asked for a meeting with U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Federal Trade Commission Chair Deborah Majoras to address high gasoline prices.

The request was made in a letter signed by Goddard and 47 other attorneys general.

The letter sent today by the Attorneys General said the meeting's goals would be "to help determine the facts relating to high gasoline prices and to help identify meaningful solutions to this problem."

The call for cooperation comes on the heels of last week's release of Goddard's 2005 Gasoline Report. It concluded that while there was evidence of profiteering following Hurricane Katrina, no company violated state law. "We stand ready to work with you and would like to meet with you as soon as possible, preferably this week or next," the Attorneys General said in their letter.
