During his 20-minute speech defending the "Paris Hilton Relief Act," Kyl claimed that we borrowed the estate tax idea from the feudal English "King-Subject relationship." Hmm. Well, not exactly.

Actually, the estate tax is an American concept, grounded in the idea of creating a meritocracy. Three of the four presidents on Mt. Rushmore supported it, one of whom, Thomas Jefferson, was fairly instrumental in ensuring America didn't have a king. If anything, Kyl's approach evokes feudal England, where wealth was concentrated in the hands of the aristocratic few and guarded by state policies.

Nothing could be more true about the way the GOPers are acting,  the GOP treats the middle class the way England treated the Colonies.
